Scholarships & Bursaries

 

Each year, there is a significant amount of money available to Ontario graduates – both domestic and international – for academic excellence and financial need.  Scholarships are available not only for high marks but also for community involvement, for interest in certain subject areas and for athletic ability.  The following resources may assist TIOS graduates planning on attending a post-secondary institution.  Just click on the name of the scholarship for access to the website with lots of information about accessing these scholarships and bursaries:

 

 

  • ScholarTree: A website to help students find and apply for scholarships.

 

  • Student Scholarships: A comprehensive website where you can find information about post-secondary scholarships, post-secondary educational and trades programs and university profiles.

 

  • Atila: Atila aims to improve access to education by automating the scholarship application process.

 

  • CanLearn: A Canadian government website that provides information on loans, grants, scholarships and more.

 

 

  • Young Scholar: Young Scholar helps students prepare their applications for scholarships and admissions to post-secondary institutions.

 

 

  • Jean Lumb Foundation Scholarship: This is a foundation established as a charitable foundation whose purpose is to advance education by providing scholarships to high school students of Chinese heritage.

 

  • Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program: This award recognizes humanitarian volunteer work.  There is not set discipline students must study in order to received the award, but they must maintain their academic, voluntary and career performance to a satisfactory level.

 

  • Horatio Alger Association of Canada Scholarship: This association seeks to assist student who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a post-secondary education and a desire to contribute to society.

 

  • Orba Scholarships: This scholarship is presented annual to students who are enrolled in a civil engineering program at an Ontario university.

 

 

  • Canadian Women in Municipal Government Scholarships: This scholarship program includes five awards of $1000.00 each.  This scholarship is open to female students enrolled in any year of study in high school and who are contributing to their school’s leadership team or student council.

 

  • Peel Regional Police Diversity Scholarship: The Peel Regional Police Scholarship is for graduating high school students attending a high school in PDSB.  The recipients will be required to show their strong commitment to the promotion of diversity within their school and/or community and articulate how they have promoted awareness of diverse issues and cultural acceptance.

 

  • Scholars4dev: This website is specifically for international students to find scholarships.  The site offers in-depth looks into scholarships that are specific to certain international students.

 

  • Studyabroad: Studyabroad.com compiles scholarships from other websites and displays them in an easy to understand format.
