Mark Botnick BA, BEd, MEd, OCT Principal

Mark recently retired from public education after a distinguished 31-year career as a teacher and instructional leader, including 17 years as a high school Principal and Vice-Principal, in two of Canada's largest school boards. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in French and Italian (1992), his Bachelor of Education (1994) and his Master of Education in Adult and Higher Learning (2013) degrees from the University of Toronto. Mark is multi-lingual and is passionate about the language learning process. He truly appreciates the struggles, and the beauty, of learning different languages and immersing oneself in other cultural settings. Having worked with learners from kindergarten to adult in a variety of language-learning environments, including teaching ESL, organizing and leading reciprocal international student exchanges, and administering Ministry-mandated International Languages programs, Mark champions the importance of experiential learning and inter-cultural understanding that are fundamental to preparing our students to be engaged citizens in a dynamic and interconnected global community. Mark is looking forward to working with students, families and staff to build on the strong tradition of the Toronto International Oslife School to help each student engage in their own learning journey, pursue their passions, and achieve their academic goals.
